If your student is new to Southeast Island School District, please begin by completing our New Student Pre-Registration Form at the link below:

What to expect after submitting the form:

1. The school will review your pre-registration submission.
2. Once approved, you will receive an email from PowerSchool with instructions to:
3. • Set up your PowerSchool Parent Portal account.
   • Complete the full online enrollment packet.

If you do not receive this email within a few days of submission, please contact Registrar Amy Jennings (ajennings@sisd.org or 907-828-3921).

• Birth certificate (or legal proof of age)
• Immunization records (see Alaska requirements below)

Under Alaska State law (4 AAC 06.055), all students attending school must be immunized or have a valid exemption on file.

Required Vaccines for School Attendance:

Students must provide documentation of the following immunizations:

• Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (DTaP/Tdap)
• Polio (IPV/OPV)
• Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
• Hepatitis A
• Hepatitis B
• Varicella (Chickenpox)
  (or provider verification of disease history)

Additional Requirements:

• Students entering 7th grade must have a Tdap booster
• Immunizations must meet minimum age and interval requirements

Exemptions:

Alaska allows the following exemptions:

• Medical exemption (signed by a healthcare provider)
• Religious exemption (signed by parent/guardian)

Exemption forms must be submitted to the school and approved before attendance.

Important:

• Students who do not meet immunization requirements may not attend school until documentation is provided or an exemption is approved
• In the event of a disease outbreak, students with exemptions may be excluded from school for their safety

PowerSchool Account Setup & Enrollment

Parent Portal Account Access:

Families of returning students can request instructions on how to set up their PowerSchool Parent Portal account, if they have not already done so.

• To request this setup information, email SISD Registrar Amy Jennings at ajennings@sisd.org.

Completing the Enrollment Forms:

1. Log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
2. On the left side of the screen, click “Forms.”
3. Select the “Enrollment” tab to access and complete the required forms.

Be sure to review and submit all necessary sections to ensure your student’s enrollment is finalized.

Transferring Into SISD

• Complete enrollment steps above
• Provide records from previous school if available

Please notify the Registrar’s Office prior to your student’s last day.

If your child qualifies for an exemption, please complete one of the official State of Alaska forms below:

• Medical Exemption / Immunity Form
• Religious Exemption Form (Notarization Required)

Important Information About Exemptions:

• Alaska allows medical and religious exemptions only (no personal/philosophical exemptions)
• Religious exemption forms must be notarized and renewed annually (July 1–June 30)
• Medical exemptions must be completed by a licensed healthcare provider
• Forms must be submitted to the school before attendance

Important:

• Students without required immunizations or approved exemptions may not attend school
• During a disease outbreak, exempted students may be excluded from school for their safety
