Welcome to Port Alexander School.

Port Alexander is a small school located in Port Alexander, AK. Port Alexander is a small fishing community. We don’t have streets but we do have boardwalks. Most people in the community own fishing boats and that is how they make their money. For fun the kids of Port Alexander will jump of the pier and swim to what we call the red can in the mouth of the bay. Hunting and fishing is very popular in this community.  It is how some people get most of their meat and fish.  There are three different lodges here. Laughing Raven Lodge, Fisherman’s Inn, and Cape Omaney lodge.

There are two different sides of the bay. One is called Track A and the other is called Track B.  Even though these two parts of the bay are connected people do take skiffs to get to the other side because they do not want to have to walk all the way around the back lagoon. The school is located on Track A.

We have only ten kids, one teacher, one full time aide, and two part time aides. Don’t forget the lunch lady who does breakfast and lunch at school. It would be nice to have some more kids here in the school. Here at Port Alexander school we have a rock climbing wall, indoor gym, and two jungle gyms for the playgrounds. We do hiking trips, kayaking around the bay, and go for walk out to The Point. The Point is a long stretch of rock that come to a point at in the mouth of the bay.
